IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT COVID 19 PROTOCOL AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR SEASON 2021/2022
Given the worldwide situation in the travel industry we have created our own Covid 19 Safety Protocol, in addition to complying with the National Government’s one.
Aguas Arriba Lodge together with the local authorities are joining efforts so El Chaltén becomes a trustful and safety destination for those visitors willing to enjoy this remote
place in the middle of nature.
Our priority has always been to provide safety to our guests. We have strengthen our cleaning, supervision and sanitizing protocols.
In addition to our recommendations and safety rules we are fulfilling at Aguas Arriba Lodge, in order to protect our guests and avoid Covid 19 spreads, we strongly recommend them to bring their own travel insurance in case of being a person of high risk.

AGUAS ARRIBA HAS THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING SETTLED IN A REMOTE LOCATION, IN AN AREA WITH A VERY SMALL POPULATION.
BEING IN AN EXCLUSIVE PLACE, WITH ONLY 5 ROOMS, OUR GUESTS COULD ENJOY THE LODGE’S FACILITIES AS IF THEY WERE IN THEIR OWN HOUSE, IN THE DIFFERENT COMMON AREAS IN CASE THEY PREFER TO BE SEPARATED FROM THE REST OF THE GUESTS.
WE ARE WORKING AS OUR MAIN PURPOSE IS THAT GUESTS FEEL SAFE AND COMFORTABLE WITH US.
COVID 19 PROTOCOL AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1- CONTROL RULES TO AVOID THE ENTRY OF ANY PERSON INFECTED OF COVID 19 DURING THE 2021/2022 SEASON.
2- PREVENTION, CHECK AND REVISION DURING THE STAY.

1- COVID 19 CONTROL RULES DURING 2021/2022 SEASON
The protocol and Terms & Conditions are sent to guests and travel agencies when a reservation is confirmed. A signed copy with the acceptance by each guest of the reservation is required.
When a reservation is confirmed, we will send a questionnaire requesting all the guests’ necessary information to host them and accommodate their requirements, needs and preferences. Personal information such as address, telephone, passport number, contact and telephone in case of an emergency will also be requested.
Aguas Arriba Lodge will contact each guest by telephone or whatsapp 24 to 48 hours prior to arrival date to welcome them. The property will require each guest member of a reservation to fill out the health statement and to inform the contracted accommodations they will stay at before and after their stay at Aguas Arriba.
Each guest member of a reservation must fill out and sign the health statement and submit it to the lodge. The vaccination certificate with the 2 doses and the last PCR test done before arriving to the lodge, will also be required.
In each case, depending on the guest’s itinerary, we will evaluate if it is necessary to do an antigens test in El Chaltén within the 7 previous days before arriving to the lodge. Guests will be informed in each case, if necessary.
RULES & PROCEDURES
• The use of a facial mask is mandatory in public areas, in the boat and in land transfers.
• Hands sanitizer will be available at the lodge entrances, in the boat and in land transfers. Handwashing will be frequently suggested within the lodge’s facilities during the stay. It is highly recommended to use the hands sanitizer that will be placed in each room in the sanitary kit.
• Sanitization works will be carried out in the luggage, in shoes soles upon guests’ arrival as well as hands sanitization with gel alcohol.
• Guests and staff must fill out a daily questionnaire every morning that serves as health statement informing their health state and condition, body temperature and symptoms, if any.
• We will check the body temperature of each guest and staff member upon arrival at the lodge and every morning before going out on the trekking activities,
• We will require to maintain social distance, to cough or sneeze covering the mouth with the elbow, use of paper tissues, not to share the mate, glasses, bottles or any other element with other guests staying at the lodge.
• If a guest experiences any symptoms such as body tiredness, fever, cough, cold, stomach ache, headache, lack of savor, taste or smell, it is mandatory to inform the lodge staff immediately.
2- PREVENTION, MONITORING AND REVISION
We will reach a 60% occupancy in order to accomplish the lodge’s logistics and operation and to leave more free space in the public areas to carry out the sanitization tasks and maintain social distance.
a) ROOMS ASSIGNMENT
Rooms will be assigned before guests’ arrival. Check in and check out time must be respected strictly in order to carry out the full sanitization of rooms before their check in.
b) LAKE AND LAND TRANSPORTATION
Land transportation drivers that take our guests must comply with the protocols requested by the national authorities.
The boat will be sanitized before guests get on upon arrival or departure, as well as all lake transfers to the trekking departing points.
c) PUBLIC AREAS, LIVING ROOM, DECK AND DINING ROOM
Aguas Arriba will reach a 60% occupancy, with a maximum capacity of 12 guests.
The indoor public areas will have a maximum capacity of 4 guests each one sharing the same space, maintaining a social distance of 2 meters.: living room on the ground floor, reading room, living room on the first floor. The use of facial mask in all leisure public areas is mandatory.
The dining room has only 5 tables, separated 2 meters from each other. Tablecloths are changed and sanitized after each meal.
The breakfast will be served a la carte. Buffet will no longer be available.
Our meals are personalized for each guest according to his/ her preferences and dietary restrictions, and will be served in the dining room, as usually.
All meals are natural, homemade style and are prepared in house.
If weather permits, guests are welcome to have breakfast, lunch or enjoy teatime with our cakes and sandwiches as well as our drinks, outside in the different decks of the house, enjoying the magnificent views. Please request in advance.
d) CLEANING AND SANITIZATION OF ROOMS AND PUBLIC AREAS
Our rooms have just a few pieces of furniture. There are no televisions, telephones, or electronic devices.
There are no decoration objects as we enjoy the views to the scenery.
Floors and walls are made of wood and there are no carpets.
Rooms are fully hygienized and sanitized before each guest ‘s arrival with steam machines with certified products to eliminate the virus, as recommended by sanitary Government authorities.
Rooms are ventilated while they are cleaned.
Staff that goes inside the rooms is highly trained to respond and act to prevent any spread of Covid 19 and they wear uniforms and protection elements according to technical specifications requested by sanitary authorities.
Guests should notify the lodge in case they want or not their rooms to be cleaned daily by housekeeping staff.
Public areas are hygienized, aired and sanitized regularly and repeatedly throughout the day.
Signs will be placed in areas that have not been sanitized yet.
THE ACCESS OF GUESTS TO SERVICE ÁREAS, KITCHEN AND PANTRY IS FORBIDDEN. ACCESS IS PERMITTED TO IN HOUSE STAFF ONLY.
3- STAFF TRAINING
All the safety and sanitary rules announced in our protocol imply protection for our clients and staff.
All staff members at Aguas Arriba Lodge are trained to respond and act regularly to prevent any Covid 19 spread.
They have completed the courses and lessons offered by the Government authorities and they have committed with the property to perform all rules.
The staff complies with the same safety and sanitary protocols as guests do. Upon arrival at the lodge, they present the health statement, receive daily temperature check, symptoms, use of facial masks, hand washing frequently, and other rules
previously mentioned.
Staff complies with the hygiene and sanitization protocol of rooms and public areas, kitchen tools, food handling and customer service.
4- ACTIVITIES AND LEISURE AREAS
Aguas Arriba Lodge offers outdoor activities, daily trekkings from 2 to 8 hour duration in private trails within the property or neighbour private properties. These places are large and vast with very few people around.
Trekkings and activities are organized together with the in house guides, the previous night.
We offer various alternatives of different levels of difficulty so each guest could enjoy them according to his/ her preferences and expectations.
Trekking groups are of 6 guests maximum in order to comply with safety protocols and social distance.
Our guides are highly trained to respond and act regularly to prevent any Covid 19 spread.
They have communication devices to be in constant contact with the Lodge’s responsible person.
Lunch boxes packed under safety protocols are provided to guests when they go for a full day trekking.
5- EMERGENCY PLAN FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION OF ANY POSSIBLE CASES OF COVID 19. TERMS & CONDITIONS
Guests must accept in writing the Covid 19 terms & conditions before their arrival at the lodge.
Aguas Arriba Lodge will comply with all protocols and requirements stated by the National and local authorities of the region in order to avoid the spread of Covid 19 or Sars Co V2 disease.
A copy of the Protocol will be provided to guests upon arrival.
The protocol’s requirements must be fulfilled throughout the stay.
6- ATTENTION TO GUESTS
In case a guest presents any symptom before his/ her arrival to the lodge, such as tiredness, cough, cold, lack of smell or savor, body temperature higher than 37.5 degrees Celsius, muscle pain, or any other, the protocol required by the local and national sanitary authorities will be activated.
The lodge ‘s staff will provide guest information and recommendations of the places designated by the local authorities to carry out the sanitary/ health check.
The access to the lodge will not be allowed.
If guests were in the El Calafate or El Chaltén surroundings, they must do the PCR test or whichever is available, in the sanitary station of El Chaltén or at El Calafate’s hospital.
If it corresponds, they will be accommodated at a sanitary hotel or at the hotel they are staying when they receive their PCR result, if such accommodation complies with all the requirements for this situation.
While staying at the sanitary hotel, guests will be assisted by Aguas Arriba staff via whatsapp during the dates that correspond to their reservation at the lodge.
If a guest manifests any COVID 19 symptom during the stay at the lodge, they will be transferred to the sanitary station in El Chaltén to do the PCR test or whichever is available together with his/ her family or persons travelling with him/ her or whoever has been in close contact with him/ her: persons sharing the room, seated in a table at a distance of less than 2 meters and for more than half an hour. If such event occurs, guests will be transferred in a local transportation hired by the company and that complies with Covid 19 regulations and restrictions.
Once the diagnostic result is given, and in case it is negative, guests will be able to return to the lodge. If it is positive they will be transferred to the sanitary hotel designated by El Chaltén authorities.
Aguas Arriba staff will assist them via whatsapp for any requirement or needs during the dates of the reservation.
AMOUNTS PAID AS DEPOSITS OR TOTAL PAYMENTS FOR CONTRACTED SERVICES AT AGUAS ARRIBA LODGE ARE NON REFUNDABLE
WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO THOSE GUESTS CONSIDERED OF HIGH RISK, TO CONTRACT A HEALTH/ MEDICAL INSURANCE THAT COVERS COVID 19, HOSPITALIZATION, EMERGENCY SANITARY AIR TRANSPORTATION FROM EL CALAFATE AIRPORT TO BUENOS AIRES CITY TO RECEIVE SANITARY ASSISTANCE, IF NECESSARY.
In case a guest manifests any COVID 19 symptom within the lodge’s facilities and he/ she refuses to go to the sanitary institutions for being checked and tested, the lodge ‘s responsible person will request the local authorities assistance and to be present in the place.
