TIME FOR RELAX
Our slogan… Leave the trekking boots, mud… Water, in the mud room… Leave the fishing rods, the waders, the trekking poles and come into the house comfortably, with thick wool socks, take a deep breath. And now, inside, time to relax in mushy sofas, read, rest… Taste a good Patagonian wine, good company… quiet music…
Patagonian Gem
“If you like small, intimate unique lodges, this is for you! Situated on Lago Desierto, reachable only by their private boat. Unreal views from each room. Homey, cozy, comfortable atmosphere. All staff exceedingly and genuinely friendly. Terrific food. Wonderful hiking in forests and across the lake, to the hanging glaciers. We had clear days, so Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre were seen in their full glory. Would highly recommend this little gem.”

FLY FISHING
Patagonia is a unique destination for fly fishing lovers… Aguas Arriba lodge… a remote place… calm, quietness, just to feel it… Connect with nature and with yourselves… live a new experience.
Incomparable and unforgettable
“Aguas Arribas is an incredible experience and unlike anywhere we’ve ever stayed…
We opted to fly fish for a full day, and it will be one of our most cherished memories. Thomas is a wonderful guide, and made sure we were comfortable, and lucky in catching copious amounts of rainbow trout…”

LAGO DEL DESIERTO
With its 12 km length, surrounded by natural forests covering up to the lake shores, it offers a great option of beaches and bays, with depths apt for long and short casts. It is amazing the number of streams that end its courses in these beaches. During all the trip we enjoy the views of Mount Fitz Roy and Vespignani Glacier.
The option of bays placed in different directions, allow us to weather the changes of wind, protecting ourselves with the mountains and the vegetation. We recommend the use of 4/5/6 floating lines rods. We use dry flies and nymphs, best results are obtained with prince, zug bug, green machine and the always useful chernobil variety.
It is a lake in which we are still carrying out research on fishing potential and results are very good. You can find a large number of rainbow trouts, and some brown ones with an average weight around 1 kilo. There are large cliffs creating areas of considerable depth. In these areas, sinking lines can be used, and perhaps you can find big surprises. Depending on the wind speed, and the state of the lake you can reach different beaches and spend hours casting in the loneliness of a fabulous landscape.
Experienced anglers can choose to go out without a guide and bring their own equipment. The only additional cost is the fishing permit, which can be requested and paid for in the lodge. If you choose to hire a fishing guide, equipment, boots, and waders renting are provided.
DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF THE CATCH, IT CAN END UP IN THE FRYING PAN OF OUR KITCHEN OR YOU CAN SIMPLY ENJOY THE CATCH & RELEASE… SPENDING A GOOD MOMENT, WITH FRIENDS, FAMILY…
EQUIPMENT
We have complete equipment available for rent, waders, fishing rods, lines, flies, boots… We are preserving our lake from Dydimo algae, which may come in fishing rods, boots, and equipment foreign to the place… Thanks for your support!
Those who have fishing experience, can enjoy the fishing any time… from the lodge or from the lonely beaches to which you can arrive with our boat.
Or if you prefer, a fishing guide can be hired during the day, to help you discover the behavior of the trout and improve your casting style.
DRESSING TIPS
Weather can change suddenly several times during the same day.
If you bring your own equipment, remember that everything needs to be disinfected to avoid the didymo algae. It is advisable to use several layers of clothing (similar to onion skin) that you can remove or use depending on the temperature. Boots, waders, preferably neoprene ones, or light with thermic pants. Comfortable waterproof windstopper jackets. Cap and goggles. Use lip balm, since weather can be very dry.
FISHING PERMIT: it can be obtained at the lodge. Please request it in advance.
FISHING SEASON: From November to May.
LAGUNA LARGA
First an uphill walk through narrow trails, carrying out the equipment. 5 km away from the North Point of the lake, we find Laguna Larga hiding in the forest. The only way to arrive is on foot… The prize… The rainbow trouts. For experienced anglers.
RÍO DIABLO
It is the mouth of Rio Diablo pouring its waters in the lake. White waters coming from the Glacier, arriving at the iced area, mix with the transparent waters of the lake. A challenge for experienced fishers.
RÍO DE LAS VUELTAS
This is a 35 km trip by car, rainbow trouts come from its birth in Lago del Desierto up to its confluence with Toro river… Release is mandatory, only one simple fishhook with no burr can be used. From Toro River until its mouth ending in Viedma Lake.
THE EXPERIENCE WITH CHINOOK SALMON
FOR ANGLERS WHO WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE ADVENTURE OF SALMON FISHING. HIRING OF A PRIVATE FISHING GUIDE IS REQUIRED. GUIDE WILL ACCOMPANY YOU AND TEACH YOU ALL NECESSARY THINGS TO SPEND A DAY WITH LOTS OF FUN, HIGH ADRENALINE. PLEASE REQUEST IT IN ADVANCE AS PARTICIPATION IS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY
FISHING SEASON: December to March.
A day full of passion… Arriving at the river, with its streams and movements, checking the equipment, adequately reading the water, adjusting the casting… Presenting the fly to the salmon with a slow and long cast… Allowing him to swim soft and steady and… waiting until feeling the pulling and the sound of the reel quickly letting out the line.
And challenge begins… the bending of the fishing rod, and moving forward at a safe speed downstream in the river… Carefully… without trying to stop the run, to avoid the line getting cut.
Weariness, exhaustion… until reaching the shore to catch him… Enjoyment, holding him next to the water… The prize is the picture and the pleasure of releasing him.

YOGA AND MEDITATION
A NEW SPACE ENCLAVED IN THE NATURE OF THE FOREST
In the middle of nature… Inspiring… reuniting with ourselves… meditate…
We practice yoga in the forest, at dawn, to start the day… In cold days… inside the dome, with infusions and blankets, and with the warmth of the stove. From the deck surrounded by the forest where sunset escorts us at the end of the day, after our long hikes, we observe the sun setting down behind the mountain… An option for those who search this contact with nature and meditation, is to stroll through the woods to practice mindfulness…
Mindfulness, being in a healing place… this helps us to come back to our senses, to keep ourselves in the present moment… To let go our thoughts for a moment… breath… pay attention to the sensations of our body, the scents of wild flowers, the caresses from the wind… guess what they are… look at the simplicity of nature… its shapes and colours…
